Tony never thought he’d take up farrier work when he moved out to Timely. He hadn’t even realized that the west was something of a heaven for centaurs, away from the more human-centered eastern cities, but there was good money in keeping half the town shod and anything was preferable to making more guns, so here he was.

“Your shoe is looking loose there, Sheriff,” Tony said, observing Steve’s hooves with purely professional interest.

Steve lifted the hoof in question with a frown. “I was a little hard on it, running down some ruffians last night. I’m not due for another set until next week.”

On account of being a federal employee, not hired by the local government—Fisk and Roxxon’s government—Steve’s salary came in with the train that stopped in Timely once a month. Everyone knew this, and also knew that a sheriff’s salary didn’t last a month, at least not if the sheriff in question was a centaur.

“Never mind that. I’ll patch you up now, no charge. After all, I sleep easy knowing you’re keeping our fair town safe,” Tony said with a tip of his bottle.

Steve snorted. “I have cause to doubt you sleep at all, Stark. I’ve seen you at the bottle well past midnight. In any case, I’m not accepting your charity.”

That was the problem with Steve—always so eager to help others, but slow to accept any personal favors. The world’s burdens were his, but his burdens were his alone.

“Now and again I catch a few winks and I do so with a peace of mind because of your work. I’d say that’s worth a new shoe and a couple of nails.”

Steve stamped a hoof. “It’ll wait.”

Frowning, Tony jabbed his finger at Steve. “The hell it will. It’s gonna throw off your gait. And what are you going to do if it catches on something while you’re running down outlaws? You know how much damage that can cause, don’t you?”

Steve was silent for a long moment, chewing on that thought. When he did speak, he was hesitant. “I suppose I can let you take a look, but I won’t having you do more than is needed.”

Tony smiled. This was a rare win.

“Just leave it to me, partner.”

AHhh panda this is so good!! I love how, as always, Steve is so selfless always, and even a bit too headstrong refusing getting help when he feels it's not something he has earned. I can imagine him little by little letting Tony in and accepting his help, letting him care for him and share moments of quiet intimacy while he does that. HEHEHE

Omg I was so happy to see that you also like hannigram! I left the fandom years ago but it's always so nice to see other hannigram fans in the wild! With that in mind, may I rec you one of my favorite hannigram fics I've written (it's a collab, so I didn't write it alone, but it still counts! haha). It's actually a series of two fics, but the first fic is really short. It's called Ends, Ways, Means & Risk.

I also made a Tony moodboard for you, from Invincible Iron Man (2022) -- one of my favorite comic runs, and I totally recommend it if you haven't read it yet :D

The prompt was SO good, i just HAD to draw it.
It got a little bit more 1872 inspired than I first intended (i hope that is ok), but we all know that this is the happier version.

Yessssss I love them!!! TOS is my fave trek (tho i admit i am behind, there's so much trek i havent seen it all haha) and I adoreee Spock's blue eyeshadow, he looks so good with it! I also love Kirk being the big spoon because I can totally see him discussing with Spock the very many reasons why it's completely logical for him to be the big spoon (and then changing his argument a few days later when he wants to be the little spoon haha)

I definitely share your love for Wiener dogs! My grandparents had one, and she was the sweetest little dog ever! When she was still a puppy and I was also just a child, I took poor thing on a long walk, not taking into account that distance is harder on such short legs, so tiny me had to carry her long body all the way back as she refused to walk home 😂

She's so cuteeee ahhh!! Weiner dogs are the best and have such funny personalities, once they refuse to move they will roll and look at you like "what are you gonna do about that now eh?" haha. I love her eyebrows she's adorable.

I don't know what kind of science fiction novels you consider fun but everything I have read by John Scalzi is consistently entertaining; the last book of his that I read was Starter Villain, which is about a random guy who accidentally inherits his uncle's job of being a James Bond-style supervillain. There are intelligent cats. :)

I cannot remember if I have recced any of this to you before -- I don't read a lot of danmei and I mostly just watch the shows with my wife, but I really liked The Untamed, Word of Honor, Guardian, and the donghua of Heaven Official's Blessing. My wife is the one who reads a lot of danmei, and I know her absolute favorite is Lord Seventh (which I am pretty sure is the prequel to Faraway Wanderers) and that recently she has enjoyed Thousand Autumns a lot. So probably those are good. :)

Sea!!! ahh they're all so cute i cried a little hahaha. I love how they always give that side eye. ANd the slinky dog art is adorableee. One of my first times seeing a weiner dog was thanks to the toy story movie haha so that brings back memories.

Sometimes you can't help but cry a little when you see cute dogs. T-T<3 I LOVE IT when a dog gives a side eye. It's the funniest thing in the world to me, and it never fails to amuse me. I'm pretty sure the weiner dog in the Toy Story movie is also one of the first times I saw one! Or maybe even the first time.
