Canon-divergent AUs, time travel, the multiverse, soulmate AUs, telepathy, identity porn, fix-its, pining and UST and idiots in love, aliens made them do it/fuck-or-die/sex pollen, fake dating, presumed-dead, transhumanism (does not have to be portrayed positively), repression, praise kink, banter, fic set at the time the canon was released (like, Silver Age fic set in the 60s), truth serum, tentacles, xeno, Capwolf, Steve and Tony liking SF/F, h/c, angst with a happy ending, Tony's evil exes, actually everybody's exes whether or not they're evil (I like acknowledging their canon relationships), BDSM (including D/s universes), sex farce (with feelings), cuddling, the kind of genderswap where everyone is lesbians, Byron Ironsides.
Here are some prompt ideas if you're the kind of person who likes to work from prompts, arranged on the fluff to angst spectrum. They are like 95% 616 because that's how I roll.
Feel free not to go with any of those, but I am just handing them out if you'd like specific ideas.
Dislikes:
Extremely graphic violence/maiming (esp. no eye injury please), mundane modern no-powers AUs (e.g., high school/college, coffeeshop), pregnancy, kidfic, daddy kink, age play, piercing play, underage, A/B/O, animal harm, actual infidelity, secondhand embarrassment. No Hickmanvengers pls. (CW is fine.)
I am totally 100% fine with Very Bad Things Happening To Steve And Tony but I would prefer them not actively trying to harm each other (accidental harm is fine), although people who look like them (e.g., Hydra Steve) trying to harm them is fine.
Non-fandom related requests/anything else?:
I always enjoy pictures of dragons, cute dogs and/or wolves, as well as horses and horse-adjacent mythological creatures.
I always enjoy book/comic/game recs for LGBT science fiction/fantasy. (For game rec purposes, I have a Mac and a Switch.)
Also, if you have a favorite popular nonfiction book, one of those social or cultural history books that taught you something Really Interesting about the past, I would like some recs for those. If anyone has any sites or book recs or anything, really, on typography/book layout, I'd appreciate it.
All fanart, podfic, vids, fanmixes etc are great and are extremely welcome! (I don't generally listen to podfic, though, but I'm very happy for it to exist -- but if you'd rather give it to someone who will listen to it, that's not me.)
I would really, really like some DW-sized (100 x 100 px) icons of comics (especially ones of amusing speech bubbles).

- 616 or MA:A: Team Board Game Night.
- 616, Ults, MA:A: Steve teaches Tony swing dancing. Or the other way around.
- 616: For some reason, this year I started watching All The Baseball. We know Steve is a big fan. Pls all the baseball, thank you. It's all good. AUs, an annual superhero game, Steve coming to grips with being a Mets fan now, hating on the designated hitter rule, or just a whole lot of pitcher/catcher innuendo.
- 616 or maybe Ults: Oh no, Steve or Tony has broken his arm! However will he jerk off now? Perhaps his good friend will help him?
- 616: Early canon. When Tony is having various other people fill in in the suit so Tony and Iron Man can be in the same place at the same time, one of the people he asks to cover for him and wear the armor is Steve. Your choice as to how much identity porn is here.
- 616: Charging the chestplate has given Tony an electricity kink.
- 616: Avengers v4, Commander Rogers era: Steve and Tony are handcuffed together.
- 616: What if Steve got Extremis tho.
- Ults: Send either or both of them to therapy.
- 616: Steve or Tony thinking Sexy Thoughts about the other one. While in bed. With their current girlfriend.
- 616: Early canon. Tony is being blackmailed either because he's sleeping with Steve specifically or because he's generally been queer with other guys. There are pictures. Tony's been paying. Steve finds out.
- 616: Skrull Steve murders Tony and just sits there looking like Steve while Tony bleeds out and dies so that the last thing Tony thinks is that Steve killed him.

Date: 2022-02-13 08:20 pm (UTC)A nonfiction book that I really loved (that seems up your alley) was a really quick, really simple read called "The Most Human Human" by Brian Christian. It's a whole piece deep-diving into Brian Christian's thoughts around participating in the annual Turing Test and trying to differentiate himself from AI as much as possible. One quote in particular hits so, so hard after the entire chapter of build-up, and it's one of the loveliest yet simplest things that's ever been burned into my brain: "Like most conversations and most chess games, we all start off the same and we all end the same, with a brief moment of difference in between. Fertilization to fertilizer. Ashes to ashes. And we spark across the gap."
Also, please have a snippet of a fic that I'm working on for you! It's a story set roughly around modern canon that launches Tony back into Arthurian times once more-- except Steve gets pulled in with him this time. It has some multiverse twisties, featuring Anthony Stark, king of Camelot, as a third main-ish character (who totally made out with Arthur, I've decided), and has some heavily Arthuriana-inspired Morgana content! Also, there's a unicorn. The unicorn likes Steve. It's a whole thing. I'll try not to spoil too much more.

Date: 2022-02-16 09:29 pm (UTC)Also it was lovely of you to write me fic! Is this the King Anthony from that one What If? He definitely seems like he could use some company from his future superheroes. The armor kink is also very much appreciated and I love the idea that Tony's classic suits were constructed using, uh, classic principles. :D Somehow that never occurred to me.
So does the unicorn like Steve because Steve is a virgin or is it not playing by the usual unicorn rules? I will be so excited to see what comes of this.

Date: 2022-02-15 01:25 am (UTC)Also, I may have some book recs you may enjoy.
Salt: A World History by Mark Kurlansky is one of the most interesting books I've ever read. It's a look at world history regards to salt, which sounds lame, right? Well no, because salt is so absolutely necessary for food preservation (pre refrigerators) the entire world turned on salt. It was to the pre-refrigeration world what oil is to us. One suggestion: read the book with google maps open. It's so much better when you're looking at maps to exactly where these places are in relation to each other to understand the wars and trade kerfuffles that go on.
Another good nonfiction book is Baking Powder Wars. It gets into the absolute madness that revolved around the creation, marketing, legislating, and law suits of baking powder. Another bland thing that completely shook the way we make food and in particular changed the way Americans and Canadians eat. Why do American's have a crazy sweet tooth? Turns out that's mostly due the fact that we went apeshit over baking powder and now wives could make a cake every day. So they did. LOL Though I will say, Baking Powder Wars is a drier read than Salt, it's still good.

Date: 2022-02-16 09:31 pm (UTC)Salt was exactly the kind of book I was thinking of when I asked for recs, so the baking powder book sounds fascinating! I will have to check it out!

Date: 2022-02-15 01:35 am (UTC)you mentioned liking nonfiction recs and i would love to recommend to you maria popova's work with her website themarginalian and also her book figuring. the website curates articles and images about astrology, literature, ecology and much more and the novel discusses in intricate prose the connected lives and inspirations of scientists and artists of the past.
happy new year and happy valentine's!

Date: 2022-02-15 04:22 am (UTC)… my gift to kiyaar might be of some interest to you as well. It is directly inspired by one of your prompts, though it doesn’t fill your prompt exactly so I didn’t explicitly tag it as your gift. It is also very sad and I used the blood layer a lot and has, well, impalement. So maybe don’t check it out if you don’t want to see those things. But the link is here!

Date: 2022-02-16 09:41 pm (UTC)I will leave you better comments on everything actually on AO3 but the fluff one is adorable and this is what the floor of my house looks like ALL THE TIME (seriously, I do not know where the fur comes from, I found dog fur in a bag of chips once) but I never once considered the implications of Capwolf also having a double coat. Bwah.
The Skrull comic is amazing. AMAZING. I am still in awe!

Date: 2022-02-16 03:54 am (UTC)I am EXTREMELY into all the prompts you gave. Extremely. I hope some of them have been filled and all of them will be filled eventually because we as a fandom need all of them.
I love that baseball made its way onto the list as someone who likes baseball (nowadays, very casually, but I'm watching it more than I used to before the world...got the way it did and it's been enjoyable to watch). :) I want more baseball stuff! Unfortunately, I haven't written any, but hellogarbagetime made this fanart. I'm not sure if you saw it before, but I wanted to share it because hopefully you'll like it and my rambling. You can tell how dated it is by the players mentioned.
For LGBT sci-fi/fantasy, have you read Rebecca Roanhorse's Black Sun yet? It's the first book in a trilogy, and the second installment is going to come out in a few months. Don't let the bland title, cover, and summary deter you. I let it deter ME for the longest time, but I read it and it scratched that high fantasy itch I had in such a satisfactory way. I'm going to copy and paste what Goodreads said because I realized I was going to say pretty much the same thing: It's this cinematic story "inspired by the civilizations of the Pre-Columbian Americas and woven into a tale of celestial prophecies, political intrigue, and forbidden magic." Two of the protagonists are queer women!
All the nonfiction I read last year happened to be memoirs and essay collections, but I recall you recommending me Debt by David Graeber last year in your stocking comment. I seriously need to get to that book and this might be the year! Anyway, the reason I'm bringing that up is that David Graeber came out with another big book with a co-author (posthumously unfortunately as he sadly passed away unexpectedly last year) called The Dawn of Everything, and it's a huge hit. It's a massive tome, but the premise sounds so intriguing and promises to shake up our assumptions and widely-accepted notions of how society came to be. I think you'll like it so even though I haven't read it yet myself, I'm recommending it haha.

Date: 2022-02-16 09:50 pm (UTC)I had somehow missed that art of faite's but that is so great! Also, I don't know if you know, but Steve having become a Mets fan is actually 100% comics canon -- there's a panel somewhere in Cap v3 where he explains how he's a Mets fan now because, you know, he'll die before being a Yankees fan, I guess. I think Steve would find it charming that the Mets' colors are blue and orange to honor the Dodgers and the Giants, respectively.
I have not read Black Sun yet but I have it in the Hugo packet from last year (I didn't end up actually reading any of the Hugo packet, alas) so I am definitely going to check it out.
I had not heard that David Graeber died but that does sound like a very good book, Added to the wishlist!
