Judging from LOPA, you're probably familiar with Director Hirokazu Koreeda, but in case you've only seen Monster, please make sure to also watch Shoplifters, Broker, Like Father Like Son and Nobody Knows — all simply excellent! My other favorite Japanese films include: Sea of Revival, One Night, Mother, Midnight Swan, Killing for the Prosecution, Typhoon Family, To Each His Own, Masquerade Hotel, We Made a Beautiful Bouquet, If Cats Disappeared from the World (a mix of genres for you!)
