Hi magic! Happy stocking day! I recently read and adored Nicola Griffith’s Spear, a queer Arthurian knight retelling, and immediately set out to read more of Griffith’s stuff. I think you’d really like her novella Slow River, which has a “problematic” WLW storyline and other dark themes, plus absolutely gorgeous prose. It’s more of a character study than a complete story. There are three timelines: a present-day narrative; a narrative of how the protagonist made it after escaping from kidnappers; and flashbacks to when the protagonist was a child. Also, I visited Earth-616 and took a screenshot of the Reddit community for the RPF ship Cap/IM while I was there. Enjoy! (Bigger pic on my tumblr.)
