Happy holidays!
I thought I could share two of my favorite Dominican/Puerto Rican dishes.

Pastelón de plátanos maduros

The traditional recipe is the one above but my mother (who does not like meat) does it without the ground beef and tomato sauce. Instead she adds some milk and cinnamon (to taste) to the sweet plantain puree and bakes it with a lot of cheese. That's a good vegetarian/vegan option, or you can accompany it with your favorite meat cut (I like mine with pork cutlets). This dish can be eaten any time of the year, but it's a staple in my Christmas dinner because I love it so much!

My absolute favorite Dominican dessert is Habichuelas con Dulce.

The beauty of this dish is that while bean-based desserts are rather common across the globe, very few (if any) of them involve milk. That makes this a rather peculiar dish.

This is technically a lent season dish, but I eat it all year long. Just don't tell anyone I said that. lol
